Maclean, Alistair. Seawitch

Seawitch - Front Cover

Seawitch is a novel by Alistair Maclean, printed in 1977. After a string of successful novels, this one returns him to his first love - the sea, and the men and machines that live upon it.

The basis of the story was the Seawitch, which was an oilrig. It was the largest oilrig ever created and was unique in design. It had steel supports that were so tall that it was out of reach of any waves in the sea. It was also versatile and movable to other locations in the sea. Hailed as a technological and engineering marvel of its time, it was capable of making more money, more quickly than any other oilrig in the world.

Without giving away too much of the storyline, generally in life, there is always one person who tries to build something useful, and a bunch of other people who try to destroy it...
