Borged

The term Borg comes from the world of Star Trek written by Gene Roddenberry. It refers to a fictional cybernetic race of beings that replaced their organic parts with synthetic artificial ones.

The Borg start life as organic beings, but have their various bodily parts replaced by artificial implants. They believed that including the synthetic made them perfect.

Modularised artificial parts were easily removable; therefore, it was common for one Borg to remove parts from a dead or non-functional one. This was a form of recycling that reduced waste.

Therefore, when I recycle parts from dead or non-functional consumer electronic items, I always say that I “Borged” the components.
