A good quality monitor and graphics adapter should be able to display all the strips. Simply adjust the brightness so that you can distinguish between all the strips. Adjust it so that you can just barely see the last darkest strip.

If your monitor is too bright, then it can damage your eyes and reduce the lifespan of the monitor. It is always better to keep the contrast and brightness to an optimum level so that you can just make out all the different shades.
