Triac Symbol

A TRIAC is a type of thyristor device with three terminals used in switching applications. A triac allows the flow of current in both directions between its terminals MT1 and MT2, and therefore it tends to be used more in AC circuits, however it can also operate in DC circuits. The conduction occurs only when the gate (G) receives a voltage, and removal of this voltage stops the conduction.
