Framing Fearful Symmetries
Farming Fearful Symmetries was an educational book written by David Blake in 2010. The book ranges far beyond tigers, or any individual species, and presents the environment as one of nature's mirrors. It shows us our collective values and priorities, and who we are, while also explaining the lessons that nature provides. By considering what nature in general and tigers in particular represent to us symbolically and psychologically, it offers unusual and intriguing insights to our personal lives. In this book, the author also explores aspects of philosophy, religion, and spirituality, as well as their connections to socio-economics, politics, corporations, and corruption. He interlaces the narrative with inspiring and thoughtful poems, quotes, and literature, in a cohesive manner making it a very interesting book to read. This book highlights and brings home the astonishing rate at which man has been involved in the destruction of his own environment. More importantly, the author recommends practical actions that individuals can take today to help resolve the environmental crisis to help preserve our collective life-support systems.
I thought this was a wonderful educational book ideal to give to my nephews and nieces, as it speaks to present and future generations about how we can conserve our environment, and the importance it has in our lives. This is a huge book with dimensions 11-inches × 8-inches × 1.5-inches, with thick cloth covered boards, and glossy jacket. It has thick glossy pages with wonderful photographs together with inspiring quotes and poems. The wonderful thing about this book is that all proceeds from it go to LifeForce Charitable Trust, hence you will not only be educating your children, but also be helping a charity that helps us conserve our environment.
