The Automatic Tape Response System (ATRS) was a computer controlled system that automatically evaluated any cassette tape for the best bias, equalization, and sensitivity. This automatic calibration could usually be initiated by pressing the TEST button. This technology meant that almost any tape of any quality could be made to sound at its best with the most optimum parameters.
