return

The A-X500VB (also A-X500V) were video-ready Dynamic Super-A Stereo Integrated Amplifiers manufactured by the JVC Corporation of Japan in the mid 1980s. The Super-A technology was JVCs solution to solving the crossover distortion inherent in push-pull amplifiers. These amplifiers are 110-watts per channel (at 1 kHz DIN) when connected to 8 Ω speakers. They have the Gm driver technology that drives the speaker more efficiently producing a much clearer sound. They also have a 7-band computer-controlled S.E.A graphic equaliser with 5 presets.

As well as the clear sound at low-listening levels, it also has a large fluorescent display showing the frequency makeup of the music. Some of the features include the following.

Features

  • Low-noise dual-slope high-gain phono equaliser for MM/MC cartridges
  • Low-Impedance Direct Power Supply design
  • Digital Audio Disc (DAD) input
  • Two tape deck connections with dubbing functions between them.

Cost/eBay

The A-X500V was a wonderful high-quality amplifier with built-in spectrum analyser display. Many of these older units were great sounding, and a good working one in mint condition can sell for well over one hundred pounds or more.
