QUAD Vintage Hi-Fi Brochure

Q.U.A.D (Quality Unit Amplifier Domestic) began in 1936 when Peter Walker set up his own business manufacturing amplifiers under the name The Acoustical Manufacturing Company. This wonderful British firm began operating in the town of Cambridgeshire, and today, it still produces some of the most advanced amplifier designs in the world.

QUAD hi-fi equipment has always been a step ahead of the competition. Right from the beginning, their Corner Ribbon loudspeaker with horn-loaded ribbon tweeter reproduced an octave or so higher than their competition. The QUAD Corporation made their mark in the 1950s with the design of the QUAD II amplifier and the electrostatic loudspeaker for the domestic market. The Quad II remained in production for 18 years, whilst the electrostatic loudspeaker remained as a reference standard for 25 years. They established the format for a preamplifier with input selection, and a separate power amplifier to drive the loudspeakers. Today, they have the best reputation in the world, having won The Queen’s Award for Technological Achievement.

Their design and manufacturing was to such high quality standards, that their vintage amplifiers and loudspeakers are still extremely popular in the pre-used markets today. I hope that the information in the brochures helps any prospective buyer get an idea of the high quality their equipment was.
