Boom Boom Nazia Hassan Lyrics English Translation

Boom boom, is the sound that the heart beat makes, usually on the 80s disco dance floor. It was sung by Nazia Hassan, and written by Indeevar, and found in the 1982 Star LP album. It is a very simple Hindi song with a fast disco beat and consequently the lyrics are very straightforward to understand and translate to English. The Star album was a phenomenal hit and the singers Nazia and Zoheb hit the mark running, making them superstars virtually overnight. However, behind them were some giants in the musical industry. The lyrics to their songs were usually written by Amit Khanna, or Indeevar. Back in 1982 it was a totally new sound with a completely new Western musical accompaniment. The music was composed and produced by Biddu, engineered by Richard Dodd, and recorded in England. The record was produced by the Gramophone Company of India, and released to coincide with the Bollywood film of the same name as the album, starring Kumar Gaurav, and directed by Vinod Pande.

Today, the Star album and majority of their work, is considered some of the best 80s disco music to come out of Bollywood. The backing music has amazing sound effects with extremely good stereo separation. I only wish they made a SQ quadraphonic record, because it would be priceless today!

Due to the fast disco beat, the lyrics are minimal, and in many places, she has to virtually sing out individual words. Consequently, any meaningful translation has to fill in the gaps; otherwise it will not make sense. This would have been a difficult song to sing, even for a hardened professional, and in this one she shines and shows the world her amazing innate talent for singing. This is one of my favourite songs from the album, which takes me back to the time when I was a young lad in college studying.

Dil mein yeh, meethe, meethe,

In my heart, there is this, sweet, sweet

machti hai hal-chaal.

rhythm influencing my body movements.

Dekhoon, tujh ko jyoon hi,

Seeing you, is like I have always known you,

ho jaaon pagal.

makes me go mad.

To kadam rekhe, jahan par,

When you put your foot, on that side,

dil mera jhuke, wahan par,

my heart dances, on the other side,

mujhse hi, mujhe churane wale.

it completely steals me away.

Boom, boom

Heartbeat

Jab bhi milte hain, hum aur tum,

When we met, you and I,

When you and I met,

aankhon aankhon mein, hote hai goom,

eyes in eyes, we were lost,

we were lost in each other’s eyes,

dil bole, boom, boom.

our hearts said, boom, boom.

Mere seene ki dhadkan ko sun,

Listen to the beats in my chest,

meri saanson ko, teri hi dhun,

(even) my breathing, has your tune,

dil bole, boom, boom.

my heart says, boom, boom.

Har dum, teri khatir

Every breath, for your company,

I yearn for your company in every breath,

rehti hoon, bekal.

(and) I remain restless (otherwise).

Sab se, teri baatein,

(To) everyone, I talk about you,

karti hu har pal.

I do it every second.

Tu mila, mila sahara,

Meeting you, I found (my) companion,

Bin tere, nahi guzara,

Without you, there is no home,

roz naye sapne, dekha ne wale.

you show me a new dream every day.
