Kaash Tum Mujhse Ek Baar Kaho English Translation

Kaash Tum Mujhse Ek Baar Kaho, was a 1994 song from the film Aatish. Sameer wrote the lyrics, and Kumar Sanu sang it. At one time, they together with Nadeem, and Shravan, made an amazing team producing these breathtakingly meaningful songs.

The song begins with the word Kaash, which approximates to "I wish", and this first line, which behaves as a type of chorus, combines with others, to express all the other things the writer wishes from his beloved.

In some parts of the song, he writes about how he feels, and in other parts, he wishes a number of things from her. He wishes that she would say just once that she loves him. He wishes to hear her say that she cannot live without him. He wishes her to demonstrate this with sadness on her lips, and tears. He wishes her to say that she cannot wait any longer for him... I suppose he is looking for reciprocation, the confirmation that she loves him as deeply as he does her.

As love songs go, it is a highly evolved one using words such as iqraar karo, or jalta rahe parwana, or kuch bhi kaha nahi jaye, which can have many subtle meanings. For example hoke juda, jane ada, could be said in different ways to give different meanings. In comparison, a Western love song in English would be very cold and simplistic.

kaash, tum mujhse ek baar kaho

I wish, you would say just once

tumko mujhse pyar ho gaya

you have fallen in love with me

waade, wafaa, iqraar karo

Promise, faithful, to confess

In this context, Wafaa can be a girl’s name, approximating to faithfulness

kuch bhi kaha nahi jaye

I cannot say anything

dard saha, nahi jaye

I cannot bear the pain (any longer)

hoke juda, jane ada

Separated from your charm, beauty, grace

ab to raha, nahi jaye

I cannot exist

mane na dil diwana

this love-sick heart does not listen

jalta rahe parwana

burning like a moth to flame

maine to ki, tumse wafa

I have been faithful to you

tune nahi pehchana

(but) you have not recognised it

Jina, sanam, dushwar ho gaya

life, my beloved, has become difficult

(Remember: This is what he wishes her to say to him.)

hoton pe gum, ke tarane

sadness on your lips, like harmoniously

ashko me dube fasane

Trapped tears, drowning deep inside

This is difficult to translate, however you know when eyes cry, without showing tears. The tears are trapped inside (fasane).

tanhaiyan, charo taraf

loneliness, everywhere

aao, mujhe behlane

come, you will find me entertaining

saanson ki shama bujhadu

(even) if I stop breathing (die)

kaise tumhe, main bhuladu

How will I forget you?

However, it could approximate better as, I will never be able to forget you.

jo aksh hai, dil pe mere

the words (still) remain, on my heart

kaise usee mai mita du

how will I be able to wipe them?

mushkil bada, intezaar ho gayaa

It is great difficulty, to wait (for you) any longer

(Remember: This is what he wishes her to say to him.)
