Bang & Olufsen Beocord 8000

The Beocord 8000 (type 4825) was a cassette deck manufactured by the Band & Olufsen Corporation. It was equipped with a high-quality Sendust tape head that was metal tape compatible. In addition, it was microcomputer-controlled with timer and digital counter displaying minutes and seconds. Many of the controls were hidden behind the brushed aluminium panel. It was a large console-style design with dimensions 53 cm × 13 cm × 30 cm.

These cassette decks are often for sale on eBay, and the price can vary considerable depending upon the condition. They can go for less than fifty pounds sometimes, and sometimes well over one hundred pounds if in mint condition. If you have a unit that does not play tapes, but you can see the head actuation movement, then chances are it requires replacement belts. Due to age, many of them will require repair and service, which may involve the purchase of an expensive belt kit.
