Bang & Olufsen Beogram 8000
The Beogram 8000 (type 5616) was a turntable record player manufactured by the Band & Olufsen Corporation. It was their third generation tangential arm decks, and had a quartz-controlled electronic flywheel for the tangential drive system resulting in wow-and-flutter of less than ±0.02 % (wrms). It used the MMC 20 CL cartridge and contact line diamond stylus. This is a large unit with dimensions 49 cm × 9 cm × 37.5 cm, and mass 9 kg.
Tangential tracking is one of the most superior and ideal ways to play records, however the extra mechanical and electronic engineering required for the tracking arm increases the cost of these decks. This is a rare turntable that comes up for sale occasionally on eBay. These units are getting old and may require repair such as a change in drive belts, or capacitor change, however they are still extremely desirable. The price can range from around five hundred pounds to around thousand pounds depending upon condition.
