Sony TC-540

The TC-540 was a reel-to-reel 4-track QUADRADIAL tape recorder manufactured by the Sony Corporation. It was a 2-channel 4-speaker sound system, with 3-speed 4-track stereo/mono recording and playback capability. It has two speakers built-in, and two integrated within the lids, with 5-watts per channel power output. The accessories included were two microphones (F-96), empty reel (R-7A), connection cord (RK-74), two reel caps, motor pulley, power cord, head cleaning ribbon, splicing tape, demo tape, and Sony oil.

These are usually for sale on eBay and are highly sought after by audiophiles. Spare parts including belt kits are expensive for this model, and time consuming to service.
