Sony PS-T22 User Manual
PS-T22 was a direct-drive stereo turntable system with linear brushless motor manufactured by the Sony Corporation in 1980. It used the XL-15A moving magnet cartridge, and Sony ND-15GA stylus needle with 400-hours playing time. This was a high spec machine with wow-and-flutter rating at 0.025 % (wrms). The automatic system consisted of reject and return functions, and the pitch control range was ±4 %. This user manual shows instructions on how to remove the dust cover, how to change the stylus and cartridge, and how to wire the cartridge using the colour-coded wires.
Review
This is a wonderful turntable that provides a precise and smooth speed due to the linear Brushless and Slotless (BSL) motor with servo control circuitry. The MagneDisc Servo System (MSS) circuitry monitors the speed of the turntable by utilising a head to detect the magnetic pulses on the rim of the platter thereby maintaining precise speed.
Price/eBay
This turntable is usually for sale at auction sites and the price can start from approximately fifty pounds for a unit in good working order. If the hinges and dust cover are damaged or missing, then the price is considerably less, however since replacement parts are difficult to find, even a broken unit has some value for the parts alone. A unit in mint condition with its original box and accessories would be worth well over one hundred pounds on a good day.
