Solve the following pair of simultaneous equations. This is a simple one I have made up with small numbers.
1x+2y=3 and 4x+5y=6
All you have to do is to multiply the top equation by 4 throughout. As you can see, this results in the 4x term in both equations.
Here you are subtracting the two equations thereby eliminating the x term, leaving only the y terms.
Substituting y into the equation 1x+2y=3 allows us to solve for x. It is simple and straightforward as you can see.
