The SB-AFC80 was a 1-way bass-reflex loudspeaker manufactured by the Panasonic Corporation in Malaysia. It was part of a suit of surround sound speakers used for the front and surround channels. The suite usually consists of the centre speaker (SB-AFC285), and the subwoofer (SB-W80), and it all came packaged with the SC-HT80 DVD home theatre system.

Review

These tiny speakers are very old for today’s standards and people usually discard them in favour of modern systems. However, it was exactly what I was looking for to install in a tree house for disabled children. These speakers are not that loud for today standards, but great if you want to play some gentle crystal music, or simulate the sound of the sea waves across five speakers. They were connected to a DVD player that I recently bought and repaired, and sounded fine in a small enclosed space.

Fitting Holes

They can be installed vertically or horizontally, and there are screw mounting holes at the back.

Price/eBay

These speakers are often for sale on eBay for a couple of pounds, and in this case, I managed to get four identical ones with very long wires for just a few pounds. The speakers on their own would not be worth much, however if you had the complete set with the subwoofer and centre speaker, then it could fetch much more money. If you sell them with their stands and wires, then it could command even more money.
