Imperial Special Calculator Battery

The IMPERIAL SPECIAL has an extremely well designed battery compartment, which houses a pair of AA size dry cells. The compartment seals the batteries away from the PCB, to reduce the chances of damage through battery leakage.

Due to the dc-dc power supply design, dry cells will not last very long, however modern high-capacity rechargeable batteries are more cost effective.

Although there is a socket to power the unit with an external mains adapter, I would recommend against this as this is an old vintage circuit that is likely to be damaged.
