CB Radio Receiver Power Supply

This CB receiver operates on four "AA" size batteries. There is also a socket at the side to provide 6 V DC from a mains adapter.

One thing I like about this radio is that the batteries seem to last for a long time. These old radios had highly optimised circuits and consequently their power consumption was much lower. In comparison, a modern digital receiver would have integrated circuits and a transistor count in the order of thousands.
