Advanced Regeneration Technique
There are many ways to regenerate a radio signal for amplification purposes, and here is one that you might spot in a circuit diagram, or implement in a radio circuit design of your own. This is one of my favourite techniques that I used to implement when I was playing with regenerative receivers.
L1 and C form the main part of the tuning circuit, and its output feeds a transistor Q which drives coil L2 producing a large magnetic field. L1 induces this large magnetic field through transformer action and feeds transistor Q again, but this time with a larger signal, because at this point there is the original signal added with the amplified signal.
When the circuit is at resonance with a tuned signal, the regenerative feedback can be extremely large. The next time you see this circuit configuration, you will know exactly how it works!
The circuit shows the basic principle of regenerative feedback. Do not attempt to build it as it can be very complicated.
