Gertboard Manual PDF
The first version of the Gertboard was available from March 2012, and arrived in a kit form. It was extremely popular amongst hobbyists who were experienced with soldering surface-mount device components. Considered a classic today, it will be more expensive to obtain, as it was a limited production.
Version 2
The version 2 of the Gertboard was available from October 2012. They were ready assembled and the production boards were green coloured. Although the majority of the specification was identical, there were slight differences between the previous versions. The major difference being in the motor controller, as version 2 had an 18 V, 2 A controller, whilst version 1 had 48 V, 4 A controller. There were also differences in the LEDs, as version 2 had surface-mount device (SMD) LEDs, which would have been cheaper to use.
