The Mastech M-830B has five range settings to measure resistance. These are 200 Ω, 2000 Ω, 20 kΩ, 200 kΩ, and 2000 kΩ. A display of "1" indicates infinite resistance, or the test leads are not connected.

Measuring the resistance is simple and requires the connection of test leads as shown. For the resistor component, the leads may connect in any direction. With the range set to "2000", the reading should be 1530 Ω, however, when the range is set to "20k", the reading will be "1.5" on the display, which represents 1.5 kΩ.
Accuracy
Range | Resolution | Accuracy |
200 Ω | 0.1 Ω | ± (0.8 % of reading + 3 digits) |
2000 Ω | 1 Ω | ± (0.8 % of reading + 2 digits) |
20 kΩ | 10 Ω | ± (0.8 % of reading + 2 digits) |
200 kΩ | 100 Ω | ± (0.8 % of reading + 2 digits) |
2000 kΩ | 1000 Ω | ± (0.8 % of reading + 2 digits) |
