Primary 2 Electronics Kit Power Supply
The Primary 2 Electronics Kit from Cambridge Brainbox has two of these extremely well made battery holders. Each holder takes a pair of "AA" size dry cells that can last a long time when powering the experiments for short durations using a switch.
Safety Fuse
The inclusion of a 20 mm glass fuse with a rating of 2 A, and 250 V is a good idea to provide protection from accidental short circuits. However, I would recommend using only dry cells, because lithium rechargeable batteries can be extremely dangerous when shorted. The battery unit also has an embedded LED which lights when the fuse is open.
The more components you connect in parallel, the faster the battery drains. Therefore, power the test experiments for a short duration only to conserve power.
