STK4152II Stereo Amplifier IC

Stereo Amplifier

The STK4152II (STK4152-2) is a 30-watts per channel stereo power amplifier (thick-film hybrid IC) manufactured by the Sanyo Corporation. This IC requires a split-rail power supply with +Vcc on pins 11 and 12, and –Vcc on pins 9 and 14. The absolute maximum power supply voltage rating is ±42 V and the recommended power supply is ±27.5 V. The STK4102II series and STK4101V series are pin-compatible with this IC.

Block Diagram

Apart from the obvious input/output and power supply pins, the block diagram shows that pins 9, 8, and 7 relate to the muting function. Pins 4 and 3 relate to the current stabiliser. Interestingly, this IC contains a differential input feeding a voltage amplifier.

Circuit Diagram

A faulty IC can be identified my measuring the DC voltage on the audio output pins 10, and 13. On a good IC there are usually no (or negligible) DC voltages; however a faulty IC will exhibit large DC swings.
