Wharfedale 2050A Amplifier

Wharfedale 2050A Amplifier

The 2050A was an integrated amplifier manufactured by the highly prestigious British Wharfedale Corporation of United Kingdom and available in 1992. The power output stage used bipolar transistors in a complementary Class A/B configuration providing 50-watts per channel (with 8 Ω load), and 0.04 % THD (at 1 kHz). This was a high-end design with moving magnet (MM), and moving coil (MC) phono inputs together with their respective dedicated preamplifier circuits. In total, it had five line inputs for connecting a compact disc player, tuner, auxiliary input, two tape decks, and a variety of other line level sources. Its dimensions are 430 mm × 330 mm × 103 mm, and mass 5.5 kg. More information will be found in the specifications page.

The 2050a had minimalist design for precise and clean audio reproduction that all audiophiles prefer, and consequently there are no bass and tone controls traditionally found in lower-end designs. Since this amplifier has low feedback design for unconditional stability (required for reactive loads), it is not necessary to have tone and bass controls, because the listener can expect good bass and treble performance with a wide range of Wharfedale speakers. With this amplifier, you get the wonderful world-leading British design and engineering highly sought after across the globe. Hand assembled to a high standard, these units met the BS5750 quality standard assuring high customer satisfaction.
