The C 6000, also written as c6000, automatic was a 5-band radio cassette recorder manufactured by the Grundig Corporation. It was a high-end flagship design packed with features that no other radio cassettes of that time had. It boasted 7-watts audio output when powered by mains, long-life head, and automatic detection of chromium dioxide cassettes. Engineering was superb as it had a modular design consisting of plug-in sub-assemblies. This is a large radio cassette measuring 15¾-inches × 9½-inches × 4-inches, and mass 11 1/3 lbs with batteries.

Repair

The push-pull audio output consists of a complementary pair of germanium transistors AD157 (NPN) and AD156 (PNP). Due to the extreme age of these transistors, occasionally you might find a set that has fuzzy sound, or perhaps very silent and not working. It is probably worth checking these transistors if there is no sound at all.
