Service Manual

The CP-1EX was a stereo cassette player manufactured by the Hitachi Corporation of Japan (Tokai Works) in 1982. It had basic tape transport functions, including metal tape capability, anti-rolling mechanism, and two headphone sockets. Although it was a basic player the external design was progressive and exciting. It was manufactured to a high standard of finish which made it very desirable to have. This small unit measures 112 mm × 82 mm × 32.5 mm, and has a mass of 340 g with batteries.

Its audio circuitry is based on the TA7625F integrated circuit (IC), manufactured by the Toshiba Corporation, which provides the preamplification and headphone power amplifier functions. The power output figure stated is 30 mW per channel with 10% THD. An interesting feature of this cassette player is the discrete motor control circuit, and a rotation detection IC (PST-511).
