JVC AL-A151 Service Manual

Service Manual

The AL-A151, AL-A151BK, and AL-A151BKX (without cartridge), were auto-return turntables manufactured by the JVC Corporation in 1987. This turntable design uses the MD 1045C moving magnet cartridge, which requires the DT-45 stylus/needle. The stylus design is 0.6-mil conical diamond type. In this design, the mechanism is belt driven by a DC servo motor. In this service manual you can get the full specifications, including the circuit diagram, and instructions on how to change the cartridge.

Review

This is a wonderful auto-return turntable, which is a basic design, but has some good points going for it. The conical stylus and moving-magnet cartridge produce a wonderful sound providing you find a unit in good condition. In this design, there is a built-in mains transformer; hence it can behave as a standalone unit. There is no built-in RIAA preamplifier, hence you will need a power amplifier with phono/turntable inputs, or you can always use an external preamplifier.
