JVC CQ-22K Service Manual

Service Manual

The CQ-22K was a stereo cassette player manufactured by the JVC Corporation in 1983. It had an auto-reverse mechanism, Dolby-B noise reduction, metal tape compatibility, and auto tape select system. An unusual feature of it was that you could connect an optional AM/FM tuner module on one side. This would have been a high-end unit for the early 80s utilising some of the most advanced electronics available at that time.

This player used the TA7709F preamplifier integrated circuit (IC), and a separate TA7688F headphone amplifier capable of delivering 30 mW per channel into 16 Ω to 32 Ω matching impedance. The motor (BHJ 3R01) control IC was LA5524M, which provided the governor function. The first versions of this cassette player had the NE66OD IC to provide the noise reduction function, however later versions were equipped with the BA1102F IC. Consequently, there is a supplemental version of the service manual showing an alternative IC and circuit diagram.
