JVC CX-2K Service Manual

Service Manual

CX-2K (also CX-2K/G) was a stereo cassette player manufactured by the JVC Corporation in 1987. It was a high specification unit with 3-band graphic equalizer, and auto-reverse transport mechanism. Its dimensions were 83 mm × 122 mm × 35 mm, and mass 270 g without batteries.

This was a wonderful cassette player with 15 mW per channel output and 10 % THD at 32 Ω. It was a 3 V system requiring a pair of AA batteries. The circuit consisted of a TA8105F integrated circuit (IC) providing the preamplifier and power amplification functions, including channel switching. The graphic equalizer required a LA3610M IC per channel. The motor speed control circuitry used a LA5524M IC.

The following pages of this service manual will be useful if you need to repair your unit. It shows how to open the unit for servicing, and also has an exploded view of the parts list. These units are highly desirable in the pre-used markets, and usually simply require a new drive belt, which is fairly simple to replace.
