JVC CX-F2K Service Manual
The CX-F2K was a stereo radio cassette player manufactured in 1987 by the JVC Corporation. It was a high specification unit with auto-reverse mechanism, and AM/FM radio tuner, all packed into a tiny enclosure 83 mm × 122 mm × 35 mm enclosure. This is a 3 V system requiring a pair of AA batteries. The audio power output is 15 mW per channel, with 10 % THD rating at 32 Ω.
The circuit design uses the TA8105F integrated circuit, which provides the preamplifier and headphone power amplifier functionality. It also uses the LA3610M IC per channel for the graphic equalizer function. The motor speed control IC is LA5524M. For the radio circuit, the design consists of a TA8108AF AM/FM IF amplifier IC, and TA7373 FM MPX IC. The headphone cord also doubles as an FM antenna for radio reception. Providing you use a high quality pair of headphones, the sound will be extremely good quality.
JVC was manufacturing these portable stereo cassette players for a very short time and therefore these models tend to be rare. They are exceptionally high quality in build and design and consequently still found in the pre-used auction markets for sale. Their price usually depends upon the condition and a unit in mint condition together with the box could fetch well over a hundred pounds on a good day.
In this service manual, there is information on how to disassemble the case for repairing purposes. In addition, there is also a wiring diagram, and exploded parts list. All this information is useful if one needs to change the drive belt.
