JVC CX-F7K Service Manual
The CX-F7K was a stereo radio cassette player manufactured by the JVC Corporation in 1986. It had an auto-reverse mechanism with full logic control, and the radio tuner could receive AM and FM bands. In order to keep the unit as slim as possible, they designed it to operate on a single AA battery situated within the cassette compartment. These old units had an extremely complicated drive mechanism consisting of two motors. One motor was required to actuate the mechanism, whilst the other was to drive the capstan. Packed with electronic technology, this unit can play chrome, metal and normal tapes. In addition, it also has Dolby noise reduction facility with the aid of BA1102F integrated circuit (IC).
In order to provide the full logic control system for the mechanism, they had to use the M51556P microcontroller. The motor speed control IC is AN6612S, which was very popular and found in many units of that era. The preamplification and power amplification functions were provided by the BA3503F IC. This IC also has built-in bias control, and provides equalization for different tape types.
Due to the microminiaturization, and SMD components, service and repair of this unit should be carried out only by highly skilled engineers.
