Leak Stereo 20 User Manual

User Manual

The Leak Stereo 20 was manufactured by H. J. Leak Ltd. It was one of the world’s first low-distortion valve power amplifiers, and also known as Point One, in 1945. This user manual has some extremely useful information regarding its specifications, maintenance, and circuit diagram. There are also diagrams showing valve and component locations that could be useful to an engineer for repair and modification purposes.

This amplifier principally uses ECC83 and EL84 valves, and audio output transformers to provide approximately 11-watts of power output. In order to achieve this, the input sensitivity has to be considered. The manual suggests that an input of 125-mV will give a power output of approximately 11-watts. It is recommended that the Leak Varislope Pre-amplifier be used in conjunction to meet the necessary input requirements of the power amp. The best speakers recommended for use with this amp are the Leak Sandwich type.
