Review
This was a wonderfully designed portable cassette recorder with auto-reverse transport mechanism, Dolby noise reduction, and elegant slider controls for the graphic equalizer. It also sounds great due to the dedicated power amplifier IC NJM2066M manufactured by the New Japan Radio Corporation. For the tuner circuit design, Toshiba use their own chipset consisting of the TA7358F RF amplifier, TA7787AF FM-IF/AM-RF amp, and TA7373F MPX. For the DC motor circuitry it has the BA6235F motor governor by the ROHM Corporation.
In this model, the transport mechanism design uses two belts, and whilst one belt is easily accessible, the other is not and requires the removal of the PCB. Consequently, repairs can be time-consuming and expensive.
Cost/eBay
This unit is not seen often for sale; however a unit in mint condition together with its original packaging and accessories can cost well over a hundred pounds today.
