Sanyo MGP9 Tape Transport Mechanism

The Sanyo MGP9 has a simple and reliable tape transport mechanism. There is only one spool for winding the tape, which is used during play and fast forward modes. I checked the azimuth alignment and it was still precise. I managed to find a good reference model, with a good head, because this one appears hardly used. It has a nice wide pinch roller and thick capstan, which did not give any problems. Although the pushbutton mechanism consists of metal components, it still has plastic cogwheels, and therefore one should observe extra care when using it.
