Sony WM-BF58 Waterproof Case

Sony WM-BF58 consists of a waterproof case into which they install the tape-transport mechanism and electronics. For the tape pushbutton controls, they use a glove-like rubber material. The holes for the headphone sockets usually seal when the sockets are in place. One way to test the seal integrity is to remove the inner electronics and mechanism, but leave the sockets PCB in place. This way, if it leaks, one has to dry only the sockets PCB.

Since the radio dial and indicator are on the cassette lid, they use this ingenious wire mechanism to move the dial indicator.
