Sony WM-EX610 Repair

Inside the WM-EX610, we can see a very compact design and construction. They have designed it so that the drive belt is easily accessible, however due to the miniaturisation, it can be a challenge to replace the belt.

Replacement belts are cheap these days. Hence it is always a good idea to replace worn out ones periodically.

As you can see, there is this battery terminal that goes over the drive belt, which needs removing first. Here, there are two possible options that engineers usually go with. If your soldering is good, then it is possible to desolder the terminal from the PCB side. Alternatively, another option, which I have seen engineers perform, is to lift the terminal from one end ever so slightly, and slide the belt underneath it.
