Sony STR-K740P Review

The STR-K740P was a wonderful piece of audio engineering manufactured by the Sony Corporation. In this design, you get a lot of electronics and functionality for the price, and it not only looks good but sounds great as well. If you are into building a home theatre system with surround sound, then this basic system works well. Providing you use the supplied speakers with this amplifier, the sound quality is excellent. A nice feature of this amp is that the all the channels are equal power and the surround channels are very prominent when they kick-in. The outside has very lovely clean and minimalistic look, however the menu system has a plethora of settings for the sound fields, so you can get it just right for your living room.

Price/eBay

The STR-K740P is often for sale on eBay and the price can vary depending upon condition. A burnt amplifier is not worth much as the parts are expensive to replace and repair is a time consuming job, however many qualified engineers are willing to have a go.

Many people are revisiting these older amplifiers because they were powerful, and the sound quality was excellent. You could connect your existing DVD player and MP3 player to it and it will sound great! If you can find one in mint condition together with the supplied speaker package, and original boxes, then such an offering can sell for well over a hundred pounds.
