Canon AT-1 Value / eBay
If you are looking to buy one, then eBay usually have some for sale and the prices vary much, so it pays a little to be knowledgeable. The AT-1 is more mechanical than electronic, however; it still requires a battery for the shutter to operate. There are many with the battery door missing, but I would suggest that if you are not mechanically oriented, or do not want to spend time on repairs, then it is better to pay a little extra and get a nice working kit from a reputable seller.
At the time of introduction, this camera cost approximately the same as a week’s wage, however today; you can get a broken second-hand body in used condition for the price of a cup of coffee. However if you happen to have a working one in mint condition together with the accessories, manual, original neck strap, and original case, then you could be looking at approximately one hundred pounds depending upon the day and the number of collectors present. With these mechanical cameras, condition is everything. Any kind of marks and dings on the body instantly lowers its price, because collectors usually look for mint condition pieces, and they are prepared to pay accordingly.
This substantial piece of Japanese electronic and mechanical engineering was very successful, and it seems to hold its value. There are still many who enjoy film photography as a hobby and they are always interested in using it.
