Canon T50 Not Working
If your Canon T50 is not working, and all it does is beep, then one thing to check is the motor. Usually, a faulty motor will not wind the film, and the camera will make a beeping sound. To remove the motor itself you need to open the bottom part of the camera, however, its terminals solder to a flex circuit located in the top part of the camera. Therefore, you will need to open the top part as well.
One quick way to check the motor is to apply 3 V to its terminals, and see if the shaft spins or makes any noise. However, since the shaft engages with cogwheels located in the bottom part, you may have to remove one cogwheel to free it. If you need to remove the motor, then you will have to desolder the terminals from this side. As you can see, repairing this camera is extremely complicated; therefore, you should take it to a repair shop if you are not technically inclined.
This is the place to concentrate. The black and red wires are from the battery compartment. I decided to cut them, as I needed to see underneath the flex circuit, and that was the quickest way to get access.
With the benefit of hindsight, these are the motor terminals.
The motor terminals feed through a plastic alignment socket from the bottom and emerge through like this to solder to the flex circuit.
These are the points where the motor terminals solder to the flex circuit. Applying 3 V across these points should make the motor shaft spin.
If the motor is working fine, then check the transistor. They are using a transistor as a switch to control the motor, and if this transistor fails, then the motor will no longer operate. As you can see from the trace, one terminal of the transistor connects to the positive rail (red wire) from the battery, the tab connects to the load, which is the motor. A signal to the base saturates the transistor, thereby switching ON the motor.
