555 Signal Generator Kit Modification

As you can see in the above circuit diagram, the modification is very simple. We can remove the original fixed resistor and in its place install a variable resistor and a 1-kΩ fixed resistor between pins 7 and 6 of the IC. This will allow us to vary the frequency.

After the modification, it occurred to me that this signal generator could be even more useful, if coupled with another cheap kit that measures and displays the frequency, then we would also have a readout of the frequency.
