MP3 Player Module -- Music Speakers 747D

Circuit Board

This MP3 player module with USB and micro SD card slot (also known as Music Speakers 747D) uses the BCHDQ06.1 system-on-chip (SoC), Atmel AT24C02 two-wire serial EEPROM for firmware storage, and 5807MP FM tuner IC. It has an LED display, with vertical dancing bars on the sides. There is no voltage regulator on this module and therefore it is strictly for 5 V power only. There seems to be a huge plethora of similar looking models with different model names on the PCB. This particular one is the GJ-D09; however, I also found many similar looking boards that have different names such as, JRHT-Q9A, JRHT-Q9B, and JLH-11016.

There is not much information about the BCHDQ06.1 IC. If you find any then feel free to send it to me.

Dancing Display

As you can see, the LED display has vertical bars on each side, also known as "dancing bars".

Back View

This is a very simple module to use, and requires the connection of line-in, 5-V power supply, and an FM antenna wire. The module I received was in a reasonable condition for the most part, though they did forget to trim off the excess wires of the LCD display. In addition, the plastic covering of one of the SMD switches had come off probably due to heat from the solder flow. I was still able to use the module and therefore decided not to make a fuss over it.

24C02

The AT24C02 is a 2048-bit serial EEPROM memory manufactured by the ATMEL Corporation. It is usually used for firmware storage. It has an operating voltage of 2.7 V to 5.5 V.

Cost/eBay

SoC

These MP3 player modules come in many versions with differing functions and there is a huge plethora of offerings from Chinese factories selling on the auction site. The one shown in this article was the basic version costing two pounds including postage and came from China. You can get modules with Bluetooth and without and they can appear very similar, however those with this function usually have the Bluetooth symbol. Some even have recording facility, can play videos, and even have built-in power amplifiers. Of course, the more functions it has, the more money you will end up paying.
