Omega Worldsound 2 Chipset

The Sony CXA1019S integrated circuit (IC) was extremely popular at one time because it reduced the component count and operated on a pair of AA size batteries for many hours. This IC was usually used in portable applications such as radio cassette recorders and Walkmans. Its current consumption was typically 3.4 mA at 3 V which made it ideal for battery powered portables. Additionally it also has an AGC and AFC as well as a tuning LED driver.

I can have hours of fun tinkering with a pocket radio.

Radios are a great fun for experimenting, and with this one, I removed and replaced some of the components to increase the frequency range.
