Poundland Radio PCB

This Signalex radio from Poundland has a nicely etched printed circuit board (PCB). On this side of the PCB, you can see the SC1088 integrated circuit (IC), and the volume control with the built-in power switch.

If you are a beginner, then this might be the first radio you hack for educational purposes.

The SC1088 is very similar to the TDA7088T manufactured by the Philips Corporation. However, this Chinese version is much cheaper. This IC has very low power consumption, as well as low component count, making it extremely cheap for experimentation.
