The Empress solid-state pocket radio had a very popular circuit design, and many pocket radios of that era would have had similar if not identical circuit and layout. As you can see, there are five vintage transistors, an audio output transformer similar to the LT700, and a ferrite rod.

In this image, you can see the cross-section showing the elongated ferrite rod. The paper former has changed shape and there are signs of distortion to it, however the radio still works.
