ZX Spectrum Membrane Protection Mod

The Spectrum+ keyboard ribbon cable passes over the voltage regulator heatsink. As you can see, there is some marking caused by heat damage; however, the cable still works fine. I decided to provide some insulation to prevent further damage.

Placing an insulator between the metal heatsink and the ribbon cable will prevent direct contact and minimize future damage.

I used a high temperature foam double-sided tape, to provide the separation and minimize heat damage. Theoretically, this should help increase the useful life of the ribbon cable. The other option was to replace the voltage regulator with a modern equivalent 1805 LDO type because they generate less heat.
