Sony MDR-ZX310 Repair Jack Plug

Replacing the MDR-ZX310 jack plug is extremely simple and requires a new jack plug. If you have the standard model without a microphone, then you will need a standard 3-pole jack plug for stereo. However if you have the MDR-ZX310AP model with an inline microphone, then you will require a 4-pole jack plug because the extra connection is for the microphone. A four-pole jack plug has four connections, consisting of audio-left, audio-right, ground, and microphone. I simply used a continuity meter to find the pairs connected to the driver coils. Replacement jack plugs are readily and cheaply available at auction sites providing you search for "4 pole jack plug" otherwise you may not find them.
