7 Segment Display Common Anode Circuit
In a common anode display, the anode junctions of the LEDs connect together, and join to the positive supply rail such as Vcc. Since connection to the cathode end controls the individual LEDs, for it to light, a logic 0 state (0 V) is required, and therefore the current sinks through the logic gate.
Beginners and hobbyists usually tend to avoid the common anode display because logic 0 is required to light the LED segment, resulting in a seemingly negative logic.
Circuit
A common anode display is one where the anode terminals of the segment diodes connect to a common terminal tied to a positive supply rail. A binary 0, at the cathode terminals of the individual segments lights those segments.
