BA-35 Processor Chip

The BA-35 Solar has a Chip on Board (COB) IC package that reduces fabrication costs and makes the cost per unit much less. This IC uses CMOS technology, with hard-wired circuits to perform the functions; consequently, it can operate on extremely low power levels. This is a single chip calculator, which performs the keyboard scanning and drives the liquid crystal display (LCD). When it is processing, the LCD goes blank during that moment, because all the resources including power goes towards running the calculations.

Compound interest functions are extremely complicated, and usually a computer running a program is required, however Texas Instruments managed to convert the algorithms into hardwired circuits to perform the same calculations using minimal resources. This is why they are a leader in semiconductor technologies.
