Installing CPU Cooling Fan into Apple G3 Case
The Apple G3 power supply box is exactly in the place where the CPU socket is, and there is a very small gap between the two to fit the heatsink. Usually the cooling fan attaches to the top of the heatsink however; there was not enough space, besides it would only blow the hot air on the PSU box. To solve this issue I decided to install the fan to the side of the heatsink and cut a slot out of the back I/O plate for the hot air to escape.
Copper wire worked well for attaching the fan to the heatsink. I also made an air guide so that the hot air would not go over the electrolytic capacitors.
