A fixed-focus lens is a system without an adjustable focusing facility. This type of lens is usually used in budget point-and-shoot cameras such as the Kodak 277X with a Reomar lens. It has a very small aperture to maintain the focus resulting in extremely sharp photographs; however, a small aperture also means less light entering the exposure chamber, which is why it has five light settings.

In the Instamatic series, Kodak managed to find the perfect technological balance using the Reomar lens, and consequently created a product that was very popular for two decades.
